Frederick Lynch
Frederick Lynch grew up in Massachusetts and received his BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, his MEd from Westfield State College, and continued on to Post Graduate study at the University of Massachusetts, the Instituo de Allende in Mexico, Massachusetts College of Art and Maine College of Art. Lynch moved to Maine in the 1970s where he later met his wife. He married and lived in Saco for the rest of his life where he died after an illness in July of 2016. His work is largely abstract and often inspired by nature, fashion magazines, patterns, and his love of working with a variety of materials. Lynch’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, Portland Museum of Art, the Farnsworth Art Museum, and the Ogunquit Museum of American Art. He also taught painting at University of Southern Maine and Colby College.
