About the Show
Featured Artists
Thaddeus Holownia, is a visual artist, teacher, letterpress printer and publisher.
In unmistakable fashion, Tom Hall captures the rugged, haunting beauty of the Maine landscape. Whether pristine or impacted by human hands, Hall emotionally conveys the true spirit of the place depicted.
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
If an artist creates something, but no one sees it, can it be Art?
When we encounter a work of art…visual, written, performed…we stand before it open to its effects. It is in the space between the work and the viewer where the possibility of Art exists.
Three artists working in different mediums invite you to bring your experiences to create Art with them.
——-
The word artist is thrown around a lot, usually as an accolade for accomplishment of even the most minor activities. But I would suggest that an Artist is more specific. An Artist is one who experiences the world that we all live in but has the vision and skill to interpret what is seen in a fashion that connects us and allows us to became an essential part of the Art process.
I have known Tom and his work for a long time, over twenty-five years. Thaddeus is a more recently discovered friend and artist. Each is at the top of his game, Thaddeus as a photographer, Tom as a painter. But more importantly, each is an Artist. And that is why I asked them to join me in Just Between Us.
We have done our part and now it is up to you. You have a responsibility in this transaction. Art can move, exhort or comfort us. It is not merely entertainment or a messaging service. It is something different to each of us if both maker and viewer are playing their roles.
Bring your ideas and memories and experiences to our work and, just between us, we will truly create Art.
