Jung Hur
Painter Jung Hur grew up in Seoul, South Korea, where he was rigorously trained using traditional Korean brush techniques. He earned his BA and MFA in painting from the prestigious Hongik University.
After graduation, Hur made his living as a painter. Within a few years, he established a Seoul-based art school which he owned and operated until he and his wife emigrated to the US in 1998. After first setting in New York City, the couple relocated to Portland, Maine in 2008
In Fall 2016, Hur was featured in “In this Realm” in the Lunder Gallery at the Maine College of Art’s Institute of Contemporary Art. In addition to his solo exhibitions in Korea, Hur’s recent solo show venues also include the White Box Gallery in NYC, the Art Gallery at the University of Maine at Farmington, E Moderne Gallerie in Philadelphia, Spread in Portland, Maine, the Owen Gallery at Gould Academy in Bethel, and the Corey Daniels Gallery in Wells, Maine.
