Cody Stack

Cody was raised in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He attended Bowdoin College and graduated with a degree in Visual Arts. Currently, Cody’s primary artistic focus is painting; his recent work utilizes fundamental dualities to focus on the inherent contradictions that underlie his artistic decision-making. The work aims to transform these various simplistic gestures, marks and symbols, and imagery into universal conversations, ones that prove more gray, than black and white. Working alongside Henry Austin, Cody is directing an educational video series for the CMCA highlighting individual Maine artists. In June of 2018, Cody, along with Alice Jones, Isaac Jaegerman, Hector Magaña, Frankie Arhens, Henry Austin, and Samanth Butler founded New System Exhibitions, an artist-run contemporary exhibition space in old New System Laundry Building in the West Bayside Neighborhood of Portland, Maine.
