I am interested in exploring the mind’s relationship to the body in the graphic forms of drawing, paint and textile based art. I am intrigued by the overlap between the internal and external world and, specifically, our conscious and subconscious perception of our body as one of these boundaries.
I believe the relationship between the mind, body and environment is fluid and in a constant state of reconfiguration. I also believe that this reconfiguration exists within a larger configuration of time, space and context and whilst we intend to move “forward”, we continue implanted, fossil-like, within a larger paradigm within which we can only have a very small effect. My work reflects the emotional and spiritual sensation of this phenomenon of interdependence vs individuality and groundedness vs progress.
