Curated by Bruce Brown, Mind Over Matter explores the boundaries between photographic representation and abstraction. Employing different techniques, the seven photographers in this show find the unfamiliar in the familiar, reframing the often overlooked mundane to surprising and beautiful effect. Whether the subject matter is discernable or completely abstracted, each image invites closer examination as we contemplate how the subject matter has been filtered through and interpreted by both the artist’s mind and our own.
