About the Show
With a lively mix of contemporary artists, In The Moment captures meaningful relationships between seemingly disparate disciplines: art and sport. Athletes and artists do their best work when they rise to the moment – to shoot without thinking about the shot, to apply a stroke of paint trusting in what will come next, or blow a sax solo based on the confidence and trust of innate ability and practiced repetition. Subjects range through different sports, presented from a variety of perspectives. This is not a sporting art show as much as an exhibition of images and objects that are related, literally or loosely, to the sporting world in ways both representational and abstract.
Co-curators Bob Keyes and Wes LaFountain selected a diverse group of artists, many of whom are athletes themselves, who incorporate sport into their work.
