About the Show
As described by art critic Daniel Kany, “[Thomas] Flanagan’s paintings are dynamic and complex hard-edge abstractions…. Flanagan’s paintings go deep into modernist logic. They are bold with color and contrast. The forms are dynamic to the point they seem to be ever-swirling with clockwork logic.”
With an emphasis on shape and a striking use of color, Flanagan’s paintings can, perhaps, best be described as the physical representation of sound and movement - striking abstractions invoking sensory experiences beyond the static visual representation on the canvas.
