About the Show

The East Bayside neighborhood, home to Cove Street Arts, is the most diverse section of Portland. Built on top of the debris from the great Portland fire of 1866, East Bayside historically has been and continues to be home to many of the cities new immigrants - Irish, Scandinavians, and Italians in the late 19th Century; Armenians in the early 20th Century; then Cambodians and Vietnamese; and, most recently, Sudanese, Somalis, and Iraqis. Kennedy Park with its basketball courts is at the heart of this neighborhood, and Sean Alonzo Harris’ Kennedy Park Series beautifully and movingly captures what makes the neighborhood so special - its people.
