Kathleen Florance

As a primarily self-taught artist, Kathleen’s work has grown steadily for over 30 years. It has been during this time that the work she has created has been pushed to an ever higher level of quality of thought, execution, and presentation. Her two dimensional work has been exhibited in multiple national and regional venues and has been the recipient of several awards, including three grants from the Maine Arts Commission. She has also completed several Environmental installations that were developed and executed either by herself or in partnering with another artist. As Kathleen’s work has matured, it has expanded to infuse the many issues of our times. Lines, forms, the relationship of color and components all play a role in how she chooses to speak about both her curiosity and her concern for the natural world and how we, as a society, are responding.
