Jean Noon
“Being a sculptor/painter/photographer and a farmer establishes a deep connection for me between my labor, existence, nature, and the continuum of positive human energy communicated through art.” - Jean Noon
As a sheep farmer, Noon has life-long practice at and a particular opportunity for careful observation. As a sculptor, she builds structures to contain and communicate ideas, responses, and emotions. Deeply interested in traditional basket-making, her structures are often vessels with interior elements. These interests in structures and observation have led to her photography practice, which has been enhanced by opportunities to travel.
The Harpa Concert Hall on the waterfront in Reykjavik Iceland was completed and opened in 2011. It was designed by Henning Larsen Architects, Batteriið Architects . The incredible glass crystal design references the Basalt formations that are found in the landscape of Iceland.
