David Caras
David Caras was introduced to the world of photography when he studied with New York photographer Harold Feinstein in the early 1970s. Photography proved an outlet and visual language through which he could see the world and communicate what he sees.
Caras has been traveling to Cuba for almost two decades. While his professional resume includes commercial photography, portraiture, and industrial photography, Caras found himself using a documentary style in Cuba. Through this documentary photography, he pieces together his vision of the complex and beautiful country and people of Cuba. As he describes the work, he is “photographing proud, passionate people in their humble surroundings as they let him into their lives.”
