KARNAK III

After viewing the exhibition, for an even deeper dive into the compelling art and fascinating life story of Bob Crewe, stop in the book store and pick up a copy of the recently released Rizzoli publication Bob Crewe: Sight and Sound, Compositions in Art and Music.  This visually gorgeous art book was lovingly commissioned by the artist’s brother and lifelong champion, Dan Crewe. To tell his brother’s story. To honor and recognize Bob as the accomplished visual artist that he truly was. And, in part, to correct the record concerning Jersey Boys’ inaccurate and hurtful portrayal of Bob as a flaming queer…the requisite fag (Donald Albrecht). And through written accounts of people who were there, to counter its diminishment of Crewe’s role in the Four Seasons’ success. The book features an insightful preface by Jessica May as well as enlightening and entertaining essays by Donald Albrecht, Andrew Loog Oldham, and Peter Plagens.
