With the still life as our focus, Greenhut Galleries’ artist Philip Frey will present pivotal exercises designed specifically to develop our creativity. With time and diligent effort, we can become a skilled painter, but our creativity can become stale and our images rote if we get stuck. So, to enhance our creativity, we need to look freshly and break down what we see into its abstract elements. Students will learn to open the doors to authenticity and grow as an artist. Be prepared to be challenged artistically, develop insights, and have fun.
Frey is a celebrated career artist and instructor with a newly published book, Philip Frey: Here and Now, by Daniel Kany and Carl Little. Philip is known for his engaging, illuminating and positive teaching style. He is skilled at addressing his student’s abilities and helping them mature as an artist.
Philip Frey is not only an inspiringly dynamic artist and but a patient and insightful teacher. His workshop transformed the way I look at the world and how I now approach the ever daunting blank canvas....which is now with confident intention! Having access to and learning from an artist of his caliber is truly a gift.

I have taken several of Philip’s workshops and initially thought that they would be redundant but I was wrong. His different approaches to plein air, figure drawing and still life kept each fresh and challenging. I enjoyed each one and learned new concepts as well as reviewing old ones.
