Maine painter Philip Frey returns to Cove Street Arts for an oil painting workshop for experienced painters*. Philip will teach about achieving color harmony in your paintings by relating the concepts of hue, value, and intensity to paint-handling techniques and color-mixing as well as to the student’s painting narrative and lighting your studio set-up. You will be guided from concept and sketching, to palette selection, through the development of a painting. Students will work from direct observation using their own interior set-up or still life. Mornings will consist of short demonstrations and lecture via Zoom. Afternoons will be devoted to painting time in your studio and individual instruction and group critique.
Students will receive a pre-workshop packet with instructions and a materials list after your complete registration. To participate in this workshop you will need:
a) laptop, tablet, or computer with a webcam & microphone
b) high speed internet connection
c) the ability to take digital photographs of your work.
