Opening Night Reception on April 13th, Artist talkback on April 15th

little house dance is an artist-led contemporary dance company based in Portland, Maine on traditional Wabnaki land.  Founded to formalize her working collaborations by Heather Stewart in 2020, little house dance is an artistic platform based in practices of partnership, equity, good working conditions, ideation and collaboration, and mindfulness of craft.

This Spring little house dance is excited to partner with Cove Street Arts to remount two past works that were created by Heather Stewart & Marc Bartissol. There will be an opening night reception on the 13th and a talkback with the artists on the 15th.

The opening work, to quiet the marks, was originally a solo that has been reconstructed as a duet. It was the last work that Heather & Marc created together. to quiet the marks is an exploration of the ways in which Western healthcare requires women and vulva owning individuals to absorb and dismiss physical trauma within a medical context. The second piece,  pull | tirer, is a duet that was created in Montreal in 2016/17 in collaboration with dancer Louis Elyan-Martin. Imbued with movement that takes its impulse from resistance and opposition pull | tirer  explores the duality between where we want to go and what keeps us from going there. Rather than creating an exact replica of what the work once was, we have taken it apart and then rebuilt the work into something new.
