In this class, participants will learn how to use and mix gouache paints to create light filled landscapes and cityscapes. Using reference material, we will explore mixing and applying clean color, composition, brush use and care, and understanding how to build solid light as it applies to gouache painting (opaque watercolor).
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the workshop will now be virtual, using Zoom. Although we will not be working together physically, there will be the benefit of recording the class so that you can continue referring to the information presented. Saturday will start out with setting up our palette, workspace, the particular qualities of gouache and a demonstration of laying in the initial painting. We will provide source material for the exercises. There will be subsequent demonstrations on mixing color and how to lay it down so that it is clean and replicates the light and value of the subject. We will be able to discuss and share our work with the rest of the class, and Judy will provide insights on moving forward with your painting.
A full schedule, and images will be provided before the class begins. A supply list will be provided upon registration.
