I have found the world to be intimate and loving…yet gigantic and unknowable.

Journal Entry, Vol. 60, 2014

Join us on Wednesday, April 7th at 7p.m., for an online gallery talk in connection with our Marlene Ekola Gerberick exhibition, Ode to a Transcendent Mind. Two of the artist’s sons, Adam and Alex Gerberick, will be joined by two of her artist friends, Kevin Callahan and Roderick Dew, for an insightful discussion, sharing with us memories of who Marlene was and what she was about as an artist, and as a person. This talk will be streamed live on our Facebook page.

Internationally exhibited visual artist and poet Marlene Ekola Gerberick was born on April 29, 1935 in Crystal Falls, Michigan. The youngest of four daughters, Marlene grew up on her family’s farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Later, the artist lived with her husband and three sons in Katonah, New York until the family relocated to Bath, Maine, where Marlene resided from 1985 until her death.
